Solo Exhibition by Di
May 31 – June 15, 2025
Ararat Art Partners, Taichung
Every fleeting moment of life and emotion flows constantly through the subconscious.
In this exhibition, artist Di transforms such sensations into a visual language using acrylics and palette knives—
tracing every perception, letting the act of creation become a conversation with herself.
In her canvases, the monologue becomes something both profound and lucid.
The word “Monologue” comes from the Greek monos (single) and logos (speech)—
a moment in theater where a character reveals their inner thoughts aloud—
not only to the audience, but also to themselves.
In 2025, Di unveils her Monologue series for the first time—22 artworks in total, including 12 pieces that open this introspective journey.
These works delicately record fragments of life and the flow of emotion,
marking a path of self-discovery.
Yet in echoing the exhibition’s title—Not a Monologue—
this one-woman performance is no longer a solitary act.
It becomes an invitation for you to enter and resonate.
Each painting is a moment of dialogue with myself.
Rough strokes and uneven edges speak of emotional fractures;
soft or intense colors, flowing shapes—these are steps in healing.
— Di
In this solo exhibition, Di presents more works from the Monologue series than ever before.
Here, she returns to raw expression—using only acrylics and palette knives to embrace the purity of her materials and gestures.
Each piece is titled like a scene in a script (1-1, 2-1, 3-1...), allowing viewers to trace the logic and transformation of forms from one work to the next.
I turned the unspoken currents of my heart into color and line,
quietly narrating them across the canvas.
Though voiceless, they echo within.
— Di
Familiar colors from memory—flowers by the roadside, leaves under sunlight,
the everyday palette of ordinary life—
all become part of her visual language.
Is there a piece that stirs something within you?
We invite you to listen closely—
to the quiet monologue in your own subconscious.

Di, known as Di in her artistic practice, was born in 1996 in Taipei, Taiwan.
She graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at National Tsing Hua University and previously worked in marketing and public relations.
Her journey into art began in 2021 under the mentorship of artist Yu Yuan-Man. Since then, she has pursued full-time creation for over two years.
Di primarily works with acrylics and mixed media. Her works often depict dreamlike landscapes in a semi-abstract style, exploring the relationship between people, emotion, and nature.
Recurring themes include cities, lights, minerals, greenery, waves, and sunlight.
Her major series include Wave Series, Island Series, Untitled Infinite, and Belonging Series.
This exhibition features a brand-new Monologue Series.
Her upbringing has greatly influenced her art. Di grew up in a family that ran a glass processing factory, and was deeply inspired by their love for craftsmanship.
Living in Taipei's Datong District—surrounded by stores dealing in raw materials like plastics, fabrics, and paints—she developed a deep curiosity for materials.
This eventually led her to explore unconventional materials like waste plastics and renovation scraps in her art, expanding possibilities beyond the traditional canvas.
