The Vanishing Form · blue afterglow
The Vanishing Form originates from my contemplation of indigo dye. Blue reveals itself in light, yet it also fades within it. This quality made me realize that every form is gradually dissolving within the passage of time. Each trace left by the dyeing process is a fleeting mark—reminding me that an artwork is not only the result, but also the very act of vanishing itself.
For me, blue afterglow is the lingering light of memory. As the illumination scatters and shapes begin to blur, the blue remains on the fabric—like the residual images and emotions that stay within one’s heart. It is not a color of permanence, but one that transforms continuously through time.
In my practice, I do not seek to preserve the integrity of form. Rather, I use indigo dyeing to respond to the possibility that even what is destined to fade may still leave behind its essence. These works are traces of my dialogue with light and time—everything we see is already in the midst of disappearing, until only the image within the viewer’s mind remains.
